A European CEO came to visit our site to discuss future business opportunities. Since I had organized the visit, I was running the slideshow to guide the discussion and somehow I ended up seated right in the middle of the table beside the CEO. He was surprisingly friendly and listened intently while the executives on our side spoke. About 20 minutes into the meeting, he pulled out a small red electronic device that looked like a Walkie Talkie.
At first, I thought it might have been a pocket translator (many customers have used these in the past, so I didn't think anything of it). I then realized it wasn't a translation device because he began fiddling with its case and adjusting the plastic skin. I tried not to stare as he spent quite some time doing this, and he finally turned it on. At this point, I thought it was a hearing aid device perhaps, when he put it to his mouth and started vaping! I suppose European vapes have different designs than what I'm used to seeing. While I was relieved to identify the mystery device, since there was a strict no vaping policy in the office, I was waiting for one of my senior ranking teammates to let him know he could do so outdoors after the meeting. They did no such thing, and there were plumes of fruit-flavoured smoke billowing around me. I thought he was done after a few minutes, but no, he had a second colourful "Walkie Talkie" and did the same routine although with a different fruity flavour. The minutes of fiddling with it, its case and so forth, and again plumes of smoke from my neighbour CEO vaping beside me.
That day, I learned a lot about new business opportunities and also surprisingly about vaping. Needless to say, I came out of that meeting smelling like a berry pie!
